3 Ways to Turn Newsletter Posts into Multiple Revenue Streams
Your blog posts and newsletters are hidden goldmines.
Most online writers ignore their older content because they undervalue it.
They write a newsletter or blog post, publish it, and move on to the next one, repeating the same process over and over again. On the surface, this looks fine. You’re staying consistent, right?
But this leads to a lot of wasted potential for the content they’ve already published.
The truth is, you could be making money from the content you wrote years ago if you knew how to reuse it in a smart way.
Let me show you 3 proven ways to turn your existing newsletters or blog posts into multiple revenue streams.
1. Turn your blog posts into lead magnets
Email lists convert at 10–15x higher rates than social media followers.
Having a newsletter is a sign that you take your online writing career seriously. Without one, you’re drifting like a leaf in the wind.
Here’s how to turn your blog posts into lead magnets:
- Find a popular blog post you wrote
- Expand it into a PDF guide, checklist, or template
- Add 20–30% more value than what’s in the original post (use bonus tips, templates, worksheets)
Then put this behind an email signup form.
Use a platform like ConvertKit* to collect emails. You can later move those subscribers to Substack if you want.
This is how I built my first lead magnet and grew my first newsletter to around 300 subscribers. I took some of my popular posts and turned them into a free 5-day email course. This took less than one hour. But writing those 5 blog posts took me around 5 hours.
Do you see how powerful this is?
This approach also allows you to create and test different lead magnets fast because you don’t start from scratch every time.
2. Turn your blog content into an online course
Think of your blog posts or newsletters as course modules.
For this, you’ll need to find 5–10 blog posts that are tied to a specific outcome. They need to have synergy. You cannot have topics completely unrelated.
The key is to find topics that help your target audience solve a specific problem from start to finish.
For example, if you write about “Setting Up Your Home Office,” “Productivity Systems,” and “Time Management,” you could create a course on “Remote Work Mastery.”
Then record video lessons that expand on each blog post. Don’t just read the blog posts.
Add:
- New insights
- Examples
- Actionable steps
Don’t forget to include downloadable resources like worksheets and checklists. Some people even add accountability emails that are automated with autoresponders like ConvertKit.
Video courses are perceived as higher value than a written course.
It’s hard to justify buying a text-based course for more than $97, while video courses can be sold even for $497. It all depends on the value of the transformation you provide.
3. Repurpose your blog posts into a book
Nothing builds credibility faster than having “author” in your bio.
Your blog posts and newsletters are the perfect foundation for your book. This is how Mark Manson created his best-selling book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck.”*
The process is similar to creating a digital course.
- Collect 15–25 related blog posts that cover a topic
- Organize them into logical chapters
- Edit and expand posts
- Add transitions between chapters
- Include new case studies or examples
- Write the introduction and conclusion
Amazon KDP is free, but it can earn you royalties between 35% and 70% for each sale. Promoting the book to your audience creates a nice flywheel where you get sales and also increase the visibility of your book in the Amazon ebook marketplace.
Price your book anywhere between $9.99–$19.99. It’s not going to make you rich, but it will increase your credibility. And that can open many doors for you.
Each post you wrote in the past can turn into another revenue stream if you expand and polish it.
Keep track of your top-performing content, as it can be a hidden goldmine.
